Governments are organising through smaller coalitions rather than waiting for universal agreement. This is the working record of that shift: every club, coalition and alliance founded since 2000, who convened it, who joined, and which states hold the whole structure together.
The connectedness index for every state and territory, from the coalitions currently in view. Hover a country for its score, select one for its full profile.
Every state scored on the four measures, then the full membership grid beneath. Select any row or label for a profile.
Reach counts clubs joined. Breadth counts distinct themes covered. Bridging counts distinct convener blocs a state sits with, so a state in both a US-led and a China-led body scores higher than one deep inside a single bloc. Centrality is the eigenvector centrality of the state on the co-membership graph, computed by power iteration on the weighted adjacency matrix, which rewards sharing rooms with states that are themselves well connected.
Each component is scaled 0 to 100 against the highest score in the current filtered set, and the index is their mean. Change the filters and every number recomputes.
This measures connectivity, nothing else. It does not measure influence, capability or effectiveness. The clubs carrying full rosters skew Euro-Atlantic, because those bodies publish membership and have done so for decades, so European states start with an advantage the index cannot correct for.
Every recorded membership in the coalitions with full rosters, including eight bodies founded before 2000. Rows are ranked by the connectedness index. Sort by Reach on the Connectedness tab to rank by count instead. Select a row for the full profile.
New clubs by year of founding declaration, coloured by who convened them. Select a year to list what was created.
Bodies founded before 2000 are excluded. Clubs that have since been wound up are counted in the year they were created, so the series is not biased toward survivors. Coverage of 2026 runs to 17 October.
Two states are joined when they sit in the same club. Two clubs are joined when they share member states. Drag to rearrange, select for detail.
All 185 bodies founded since 2000. Those with full rosters carry overlap figures. The rest are recorded for the timeline, with the reason their membership is not enumerated.
Every state's position then against its position now. Points above the dashed line have gained ground as the club system grew; points below have slipped as others joined faster.
Connectedness, club count and alliance posture, country by country. Switch between the world map and an equal-tile grid that keeps small states visible.
